K-5 PROGRAM AND SERVICES

Because your child deserves to soar

We help K-5 students with varying needs and abilities reach the best of what they can achieve

Full Circle Academy (FCA) is more than just a school. Our mascot is an eagle because FCA is a place where your child can soar.

To help kids “find their wings,” we begin by getting to know them as individuals. With our low student-to-teacher ratios, we’re able to tune into their strengths and interests so we can help each child become the most successful they can be in ways that are meaningful to them. For example, a love of dogs or dinosaurs can be a bridge into lessons and therapy to get them excited to learn new skills and behaviors. This can in turn boost their confidence, academic engagement, and progress.

The students we love to help may present with (but aren’t limited to) Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities (typically IQs of 70 and below), Emotional Disabilities, and Significant Behavioral Challenges.

If a child can’t learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn.

Program Highlights

A PERSONALIZED EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM FOR YOUR CHILD

Understanding your whole child and working closely with the professional and personal caregivers in their life allows us to create an educational program that is personalized, collaborative, and purposeful–all designed to respond to their unique needs and guide them forward to more progress, behavioral control, and independence.

A POSITIVE PLAN THAT EVOLVES WITH YOUR CHILD, STEP-BY-STEP

Frequent assessment of student progress is paramount to their success. That’s why we regularly evaluate your child’s progress, meet with you and the school team, and make any needed adjustments in the direction or pace of instruction, related supports, and goals. This helps create a more positive and productive learning experience for your child.

A NURTURING TEAM CARING FOR YOUR CHILD

Our team of dedicated teachers and therapists thrive on helping kids with exceptionalities and complex behaviors reach their potential. Your child will receive a multi-sensory, hands-on learning experience that will enable them to enjoy learning while building their communication and social skills as well as self-esteem.

SAFETY CARE
Full Circle Academy staff are trained in First Aid, CPR, and the administration of medications as ordered by the student’s primary care physician and/or psychiatrist. All staff are also trained in Safety Care™
WE DON’T SUSPEND FOR BEHAVIORS
We make all attempts to work with students to get them back on task when behaviors arise. We don’t suspend for behaviors, nor do we call a student’s guardian to pick them up because of behaviors.

Behavioral Support

Full Circle Academy has skilled and energetic board certified behavior analysts (BCBAs) and registered behavior technicians (RBTs) who use your child’s motivation and interests to deliver intensive behavior support.

BEHAVIOR SUPPORT PLAN (BSP)
All our staff receive specialized training in handling difficult behavioral problems. Each student has a Behavior Support Plan (BSP). This clearly outlines how to assist them when they are displaying challenging behaviors so we can work with the student on their maladaptive behaviors and get them back on task. We do not suspend students for behaviors, nor do we call their guardian to have them sent home.

Meet Our Therapists

ABA FROM A TRAUMA-INFORMED PERSPECTIVE

All our programs are designed from the theory of applied behavior analysis (ABA) from a trauma-informed perspective. This is especially effective in helping kids with challenging behaviors who may have had difficulties in other settings such as the classroom or daycare.

While all ABA is designed to teach new skills and reduce maladaptive and unsafe behaviors, ABA from a trauma-informed perspective takes a deeper approach. In this evidence-based treatment, the whole child is considered, including the personal experiences that have shaped their behavioral and emotional responses. By understanding and addressing the root of the behavior, therapy becomes more effective and comfortable. Your child can relax and learn new, appropriate behaviors that make sense to them.

With new coping and behavioral skills come more independence and confidence, which helps lead to healthier relationships with parents, caregivers, teachers, and others.

Speech-Language Pathology

Speech-language services are aimed at improving your child’s overall communication skills. At Full Circle Academy, our speech-language pathologists (SLPs) focus on developing the use of language and communication skills to help students get the most out of their educational programs.

Our SLPs specialize in treating areas of communication such as articulation, expressive language, receptive language, social language, and language delay or disorder, as well as augmentative and alternative communication (AAC).

As part of our interdisciplinary team that provides evidence-based services, our SLPs are highly trained in ABA practices. They are respected members of our team that strives to create an innovative, practical approach to helping your child gain valuable communication skills to build self-esteem, confidence, and independence.

Meet Our Therapists

Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy promotes functional participation in activities, including handwriting, manipulating objects with one and two hands, doing puzzles, catching, throwing, and caring for oneself (eating, getting dressed, grooming, and hygiene).

At Full Circle Academy, we have an occupational therapist on staff who promotes motor skills and sensory development while helping the students improve their ability to participate in everyday routines and activities that are a part of their educational program.

Our goal is to meet the sensory needs of all our students. Our new sensory gym provides the right equipment to help kids develop their motor skills in a fun, safe environment.

Music Education

Full Circle Academy partners with licensed music educator Bridgette Bitzegaio, founder of Adapt Music, Inc., so students can benefit from the power of music to address cognitive, social, emotional, and physical needs.

Through singing, listening to music, playing instruments, and moving to music exercises, music education works on individualized goals to improve well-being.

Benefits include:

  • Strengthening positive coping skills
  • Enhancing self expression and communication
  • Expanding social skills
  • Encouraging emotional expression
  • Strengthening motor skills
  • Stress management
  • Pain management

Mental Health Counseling

For students who may benefit from mental health counseling, FCA partners with The Village to provide this service.

If your child’s team determines this service to be necessary, a licensed mental health therapist will come to the school to complete a diagnostic assessment, make recommendations, and provide ongoing therapy sessions.

Parents are an integral part of this process and are encouraged to attend sessions with their child as is appropriate.

Transition Planning and In-School Support Services

For students whose goal it is to return to the classroom, Full Circle Academy can prepare them for this transition and push into the school district to help your child adjust to the new environment.

If you’re a teacher or administrator seeking in-school support, such as behavior plans, training, and supplemental staffing, please visit our clinic site.
